The current Terminologia Anatomica (TA) presents limitations in the classification of permanent human teeth, using generic terms that fail to reflect the morphological and topographic differences between teeth within the same group. This study proposes a specific terminological update in Spanish, based on a critical review of TA2 and supported by the use of the digital tool TA2Viewer, integrating the principles of Regular Anatomical (RA) Terminology, such as clarity, structural consistency, descriptive precision, and direct translation into the vernacular language. The TA98 and TA2 categories were systematically reviewed, confirming the absence of individualized anatomical terms for permanent teeth. Based on this review, a detailed nomenclature in Spanish is proposed, along with its corresponding Latin and English forms, distinguishing central and lateral incisors, first and second premolars, and molars according to positional order. The elimination of terms such as Dens serotinus or “wisdom tooth” is also justified due to their lack of anatomical relevance. This contribution aims to enhance terminological precision in dentistry, improve anatomy education in Spanish-speaking countries, and support its integration into future official versions of TA.
